ABOUT SPIRIT WEEKS

Spirit weeks are where we encourage students and staff to get crazy, and to be different and unique with their style. This is the only way to earn homeroom points for the third quarter. The next spirit week is currently undecided.. The theme is also undecided. If you have any questions, please contact Serenity Chu, who is in charge of Homeroom. ZOO SPIRIT WEEK

DATE: JAN 28TH - FEB 1ST

The third spirit week of the year is now here! The assignments are as follows:

  • Marsupial Monday - Wear pouches (hoodies with a middle pocket) or fanny packs
  • Zebra and Tiger Tuesday - Wear stripes or plaid
  • Lion Mane Wednesday - Crazy hair, Wigs
  • Rainbow Thursday - 50% pink or rainbow
  • Baby Animal Friday - Carry stuffed animals
      • You can also wear an animal costume for each day.

TECH TALK #3

DATE: JANUARY 25TH

The third Tech Talk of the year was on January 25th, and it was the first tech talk of the new year in 2019! It featured Glen McKnight, who works in the company Other Ocean, and he talked about the gaming industry that has created some of the world's most famous games, like Minecraft and Yu-Gi-Oh.

COIN WARS

DATE: JAN 8TH - 23RD

The famous charity event Coin Wars, was held from January 8th - 23rd. This is a competition between all grades in which all grades give coins into their own grade's bucket to earn points and dollar bills into other grades' buckets for them to lose points. In the end, the grade with the greatest amount of points gets a donut party and the money will be donated to the charity selected by each grade.

TECH TALK #2

DATE: DECEMBER 13TH

The second Tech Talk of the year was held on December 13th from 3 to 4:30 in the library! The Tech Talk featured Apoorva Joshi, a senior research scientist, and Manisha Sahni, a manager of software development engineering, who shared about cyber security and how their company, FireEye, makes software to eradicate these dangers.

WALK OR BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY

DATE: DECEMBER 5TH

Another awesome Walk or Bike to School Day! It is a year-long event that happens on the first Wednesday of every month. The first Wednesday that this event happened was on September 5th, 2018. If you happen to live far away, you may be driven over to one of the following four locations nearest to you: Calabazas Park (0.7 miles away), Johnson Avenue and Prospect Road (0.7 miles away), Johnson Avenue and Thompson Drive (0.8 miles away), or Miller Avenue and Hyde Avenue (0.7 miles away). This is based on an honor system.

Bus Driver and Crossing Guard Appreciation

DATE: NOVEMBER 14TH

This appreciation is to thank our bus drivers and crossing guards. Make sure to thank them if you see them at any time!

HALLOWEEN DANCE

DATE: OCTOBER 26TH

The second dance of the year, The Halloween Dance, was held on October 26th from 7:30 to 9:30 in the quad. You could get FREE admissions if you donate 2 We Scare Hunger cans. There were many great food, like chips, jamba juice, and cupcakes.

Custodian and Food Service Appreciation

DATE: OCT. 24TH

This appreciation is to appreciate all of the hard work that our Custodians and Food Service. THANK YOU!

HALLOWEEN GRAMS

DATE: OCTOBER 17TH-22ND

Halloween Grams occurred from October 17th-22nd. All grams were only $1. In the grams there will either be vampire fangs, candy corn, rubber duckies, and others.

MOVIE NIGHT

DATE: OCTOBER 12TH

The first movie night existed on October 12th from 7-9:30 PM. The movie played Wonder. Attendance is free, but only the first 150 people will be admitted. This event took place at the quad. Hot chocolate, popcorn, and pizza was available for purchase.

DATE: SEPT 24TH - 28TH

The first Spirit Week of the year started on the 24th of September and ends on the 28th of September. The theme of the spirit week is Road Trips.

Miller Monday - Miller wear (Yellow and Black)

Telluride Tuesday - Sports attire (Sporty/Hiking)

Washington D.C. Wednesday - Red, white, and blue (or flag)

Texas Thursday - Plaid or Western Wear

Florida Friday - Beach attire (Flip Flops/tropical theme)

Back To School Bash

DATE: SEPT 20TH

A community family event was on September 20th. There was many games such as the Cupcake Walk, Donut on a String, Ring Toss, and many more. We sold food and drinks.

TECH TALK

DATE: SEPTEMBER 14TH

The first Tech Talk of the year was on Friday, September 14th that featured Maya Ackerman.​ She shared about her recent developments in Computational Creativity! An AI assistant was brought by Ms. Ackerman allowing us to create our own songs using our phones. If you didn't have a phone or forgot it, we had available iPads for your use. Free refreshments was provided after the talk.

STUDENT STORE

DATE: SEPTEMBER 4TH

The Student Store opened on Tuesday, September 4th at lunch! It's located between the band and woodshop room, and we'll be selling a variety of items such as lollipops, stationary, and more! Feel free to stop by and check it out!

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

Back to School Night is a night where parents get to know about their child's teachers and learn about their classes.

UNDER THE SEA DANCE

DATE: AUGUST 17TH

The first dance of the school year was held on August 17th, 2018. That was the second day of school! The theme was "Under the Sea" where you can find awesome decorations and food. The dance was from 7-9:30 p.m. at the quad​. Remember to bring your friends, your schedule or Student ID, and admission was only $5.
